Welcome to Dreams Taking Wings. The stamped and unstamped dossier for travel adventures. We are Nitin and Megha, the husband wife duo from Delhi, who are best friends , travel companions and the co-creators of this blog and all this happened in the same order.
Who Are We
Nitin bitten by the software bug is a Computer Engineer, working as a Developer since 2012, and Megha is a Chartered Accountant and works as a Credit Underwriter since 2017.
Our journey is not similar to the other couple’s escapades you witness on various blogs. We did not meet in college or at work neither binge in love before marriage. Rather, we had an arranged marriage in early 2020.
We both are late bloomers in the world of traveling. Nitin started traveling in 2018 and Megha caught the travel bug from Nitin after marriage.
Embarking Dreams Taking Wings !!
It commenced as a Solo travel blog in 2018 by Nitin, who comes from a religious family strong in their beliefs and more often than not most of his childhood trips were a pilgrimage. Being an agnostic, he did not have a liking for those trips. Vacation for his family only meant one thing to find god, but Nitin wanted to explore the unknown, may sound familiar but he wanted the journey to be different.
Waking up at 4 in morning and coming back to hotel at 10 in night with little breaks in between was more exhausting and joyless than going to school. Multitude of these factors combined meant never being excited about trips and even making excuses when friends made some plans.
It all changed when he had a 4-day trip to Dehradun and Haridwar with his sister and her family in 2017.
Now you must be thinking that Haridwar is very popular pilgrimage site, so he must have had some sort of religious awakening. Nah, sorry to disappoint you.
Although, that trip also involved waking at 5, but coming back to hotel before 8 in night and taking enough breaks in between allowed him to absorb the experience and appreciate the beauty of place and its surroundings. This all made the trip less annoying (Ugh… It was still annoying as he had to wake up at 5 and go to temples)
Then, Nitin got the itchy feet…
He was always exploring trip-worthy places on the internet if he was not working; trying to plan a trip with his family or friends. Most of the plans never materialized on account of them being busy or not being attracted to that place as a tourist.
Though he travelled to Ahmedabad and Nainital after that but his craving for travel never lessened, instead it heightened. It was at that moment that he realized that he doesn’t need to find company for travel. He can relish the journey and the destination on his own; he just need a bag full of travel-zeal to revel in.
Now, you may say he had some kind of awakening which led to the onset of Dreams Taking Wings.
Dreams Taking Wings – Couple Travel Blog
Marriage to Megha gave Nitin a travel companion with whom he could cherish his love for travelling. And gave this blog its co-owner.
We went to Phuket on our honeymoon and as soon as we came back, we started discussing about all the places we want to visit. And, then COVID-19 happened and it disrupted the world travel. It felt like our wings were clipped.
After being confined to home for months, we went for a weekend trip to Kasauli, a small hill station in Himachal Pradesh in new year of 2021. It started as a catalyst and gave our travel dreams fresh wings just like how phoenix rise from the ashes. And since then, we have visited few Indian cities amid the pandemic.
What to look forward
The best thing about having not travelled much is that we want to explore everything without having any pre-conceived notion about any particular place.
We are part-time budget travellers and have no plans to leave our jobs in near future. We stay in budget hotels, opt for public transportation, and always in lookout on how to save money and still do all the touristy things. This blog aims to be a travel website which will provide budget travel guides, tips, and itineraries to help average Indian travellers plan their affordable yet fun trip.
