How To Get Around in Busan
Public Transportation
- Subway and Bus: Good network covering all major attractions
- Fare: Starting from KRW 1,400 (~₹84)
- T-Money Card: Essential contactless card for all public transport. Works same as EZ-Link Card in Singapore – load money, tap in, and tap out.
Taxi Services
- Apps: Uber and KakaoTaxi are most popular
- Cost: Convenient, time saving but more expensive than public transport
Taxi Or Public Transport
Unlike Seoul, major attractions in Busan are scattered across the city. Depending solely on public transportation can be time-consuming as many times you may need multiple bus or subway connections to reach your destination. You don’t want to spend the majority of your day in commute just to save a few bucks. My rule of thumb was to take a taxi if it saved decent commute time and the fare was within the range of 3-3.5x of public transport.
Travel Tip
Google Maps doesn’t work in South Korea – use Naver Map instead

Top Things To Do – Ultimate Busan Travel Guide For First Time Visitors
Haeundae Beach

Our ultimate Busan travel guide for first time visitors recommend Haeundae beach as top attraction to visit. Haeundae Beach is the most popular beach in Busan for locals and foreigners alike. Visitors will find this white sand beach surrounded by hills and skyscrapers particularly impressive. The beach can be visited anytime but we recommend visiting during the day or sunset for the best experience.
Busan Tower

An ideal stop to our ultimate Busan travel guide for first time visitors, Busan Tower is a 120-metre high tower in Yongdusan Park offering panoramic views of the city. You can take an elevator to the top and access incredible city views through many windows.
The observatory is small and created in a circular fashion which reminded us of the Petrin Tower in Prague. If you’re visiting in spring, you may also get to see cherry blossoms.

Haedong Yonggungsa Temple

One of the most beautiful temples in South Korea, Haedong Yonggungsa Temple is a must-visit attraction recommended by our ultimate Busan travel guide for first time visitors. Located on the east side of Busan, this seaside temple is dedicated to the Goddess of Buddha.
There are many vantage points from where you can get postcard-worthy views of the temple. Outside the temple, you’ll find food stalls and shops selling trinkets.

- Opening Hours – 5 AM to sunset
- Suggested Duration – 1.5 hours

Yacht Cruise
We generally are not fans of cruises but loved the small Yacht Cruise in Busan. Instead of big ships carrying hundreds of people, a yacht carries ~20 people. Our ultimate Busan travel guide for first time visitors strongly recommend this activity for fun and intimate experience.

With a small boat, you can also feel rocky movements in the water which is an experience in itself. We had taken a yacht cruise from Yachtholic company. There are other companies also like Diamond Bay Yacht Cruises that offer similar cruise tours. You will need to pre-book your slot at least a couple of days in advance. If possible, book a night tour that includes fireworks. We had to book an evening tour as the fireworks tour was sold out.
- Meeting Point – Yacht Holic (in front of Guard Post 4) Suyeongman Yacht Marina, 84 Haeundaehaebyeon-ro, Haeundae-gu, Busan
- Tour Timings – 12 PM, tour at hourly intervals starting from 2 PM till 10 PM
- Suggested Duration – 50 minutes
- Ticket Cost – KRW 30,000 or ~₹ 1,800 (Adult), KRW 20,000 or ~₹ 1,200 (Child)
Gwangalli Beach

Gwangalli Beach is the second most popular beach in Busan after Haeundae Beach. First-time visitors to Busan should visit at night when you can see Diamond Bridge illuminated in many colors.
A 10-minute spectacular drone light show is held twice every Saturday at 8 PM and 10 PM. The show happens on the left side of the beach but can be viewed from anywhere on the beach.
Skyline Luge
Skyline Luge is an adventure ride in Busan suitable for all age groups and is highly recommended by this ultimate Busan travel guide for first time visitors. Located on the east side of Busan and within walking distance from Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, it’s perfect for satisfying your racing needs in a safe and controlled environment. The Skyline Luge has 4 trails totalling 2.4 kilometres in length.

It is the 7th Skyline Luge in the world and 2nd in South Korea. You first take a chairlift called Skyride to go uphill and then take a luge ride to come down the track.
We recommend buying at least 4 Luge & 4 Skyride combo tickets that will let you explore each of the four tracks once.
- Address – San 60-1, Sirang-ri, Gijang-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan

Songdo Amnam Park
Songdo Amnam Park is located on the west side of Busan and can be accessed via a cable car called Busan Air Cruise. Visitors can choose between two types of cable cars – Air Cruise (cabin with closed floor) and Crystal Cruise (cabin with transparent floor). We recommend paying a little extra and going for Crystal Cruise.
The cable car station called Sky Park station has multiple floors comprising photo zones and observatories. It also has a small food court in case you feel hungry.

Outside of Sky Park station, there is a Dino Adventure Park where dinosaur statues are installed that make movements and sounds every few minutes.
Amnam Park also has scenic walking trails that we highly recommend. You will be rewarded with beautiful sea views.

Another popular attraction at Amnam Park is Songdo Yonggung Suspension Bridge which connects Amnam Park with Dongseom Island. The bridge is only 127.1 metres long but offers bird-eye views of many uninhabitable islands, rocky cliffs, and the ocean.
- Address – Songdo Bay Station at Songnim Park, 171, Songdohaebyeon-ro, Seo-gu, Busan

Gamcheon Culture Village
Gamcheon village used to be a slum till 15 years back but in 2009 government took a special project to transform the village with the help of artists and residents. Today, it is one of the most popular attractions for first-time visitors to Busan.

You can wander around the narrow alleys admiring the colorful houses, street art and sculptures. Another popular thing to do is to visit one of their cafes and enjoy the panoramic views of Gamcheon Culture Village.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t visit Gamcheon Culture Village. The day we were supposed to visit the village, it rained the whole day and we had to give it a skip.
Busan X The Sky

Busan X The Sky is an observatory located in Haeundae LCT The Sharp – Landmark Tower in Haeundae, Busan. Visitors will get amazing views of the ocean, Haeundae Beach and the city from this vantage point.

Spa Land Centum City
If you want to experience Jjimjilbang (traditional Korean bath), our ultimate Busan travel guide for first time visitors recommend visiting Spa Land Centum City. Jjimjilbang are bathhouses separated by gender. You will be fully naked along with many other people of the same gender. Once you go past the awkwardness, you will find it an amazing experience.

The bathhouse has many pools of varying temperatures that you can use to relax and rest. There is a jjimjilbang etiquette listed at the entry that you should follow. The most important ones are to take a shower before and after using the pool.
Apart from the jjimjilbang, there are also 13 different themed sauna rooms. There is also an outdoor area where you can relax and soak your feet in a bath.

- Opening Hours – 6 AM to 11 PM
- Suggested Duration – 2-3 hours
- Ticket Cost – KRW 20,000 or ~₹ 1,200 (Adult), KRW 16,000 or ~₹ 960 (Child)
Haeundae Beach Train
Haeundae Beach Train is one of the most popular attractions for first-time visitors to Busan. It is a sightseeing train along the 4.8 kilometres scenic coastline from Mipo to Songjeong in the Haeundae area. It has a total of 6 stops – Mipo, Dalmaji Tunnel, Cheongsapo, Daritol Skywalk, Gudeokpo, and Songjeong.

A train coach has two long benches facing a glass window to allow travellers to enjoy the scenery.
If you want privacy, you can go for a private 4-seater Haeundae Sky Capsule operating between Mipo and Cheongsapo station. It also runs slower than the beach train, thus allowing more time to enjoy the views and take photos. The downside is that it is about 3x expensive than the beach train.
We can’t comment on the views as we couldn’t experience the beach train as there was 3-4 hours of waiting when we visited. If you’re planning to include the Haeundae Beach Train in your Busan travel guide for first time visitors itinerary, we recommend riding the Haeundae Beach Train first thing in the morning.
- Address – 13 Dalmaji-gil 62beon-gil, Haeundae-gu, Busan (Haeundae Blueline Park – Mipo Station)

- Official website – www.bluelinepark.com
- Opening Hours – https://www.bluelinepark.com/eng/beachTramTime.do
- Suggested Duration – 1 to 2 hours
- Ticket Cost – Beach Train: KRW 7,000 or ~₹ 420 (one-way), KRW 12,000 or ~₹ 720 (round-trip), KRW 16,000 or ~₹ 960 (day pass); Sky Capsule (one-way): KRW 35,000 or ~₹ 2,100 (2 persons), KRW 45,000 or ~₹ 2,700 (3 persons), KRW 50,000 or ~₹ 3,000 (4 persons)
Day Trip To Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival (March end – April Beginning)
If you are visiting Busan during spring and about week-long Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival is going on, then this ultimate Busan travel guide for first time visitors recommend taking the Jinhae Cherry Blossom Tour for beautiful and probably once in a lifetime experience . If you are lucky and cherry blossom trees are close to 100% bloom, you will be rewarded with the beautiful sight of light pink cherry blossom trees everywhere you set your eyes.
We took a day tour through Klook that took care of roundtrip transportation from Busan. You can also take the tour from Seoul but both the tour cost and travel time would be greater than the tour from Busan.
Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival from Seoul/Busan – Klook

During our visit, cherry blossoms were only about 40-50% fully bloomed but still we loved the atmosphere and were able to take decent photographs.
As true for any organized tour, tour buses generally arrive at the same time, so be prepared to face huge crowds. The limited availability of tour days and the ever-growing popularity to see cherry blossoms among both locals and tourists only add to the crowd problem.
Visit Busan Pass
If you are planning to visit many attractions in Busan, you may consider buying Visit Busan Pass – a key recommendation in our ultimate Busan travel guide for first time visitors. Like Discover Seoul Pass in Seoul, Visit Busan Pass also allows one-time entry to many Busan attractions and can also be used as a transportation card (same as T-Money) if a physical card is bought.
Some of the popular attractions included in the pass are Centum Spa Land, Busan Tower, Yacht Cruise, Skyline Luge (2 rides only), and Busan X The Sky.
It is available in 2 variants – 24-hour (KRW 55,000 or ~₹ 3,300) and 48-hours (KRW 85,000 or ~₹ 5,100).
You may checkout latest prices and attraction here.
Its validity starts from the time of first use and you can avail as many free attractions as you want for one-time use. For example, if you use the 24-hour pass today at 4 PM for the first time for any free attraction, you may continue to use this pass till 3:59 PM tomorrow for entry to free attractions.
Is Visit Busan Pass Worth Buying?
Well, that depends…
If you can accommodate many expensive activities in 48 hours, then yes definitely it is worth buying. Otherwise, you may be better off buying individual tickets.
If you want to visit Centum Spa Land, Yacht cruise, Busan X The Sky, and a few other attractions then buying the pass is a no-brainer. These 3 activities alone cost KRW 77,000 if we consider official prices whereas the 48-hour Visit Busan Pass costs KRW 85,000.
Before buying the pass, make a list of must-do attractions from this complete Busan travel guide and how much they cost (consider prices on Klook, KKday and not official ones) and then compare the total price with the pass price. If the activity’s total price is higher or in the same range as the pass price, then only consider buying the Visit Busan Pass.
