Reading this post it gives me the idea of visiting this area around winter time here in the US for us to get the perfect weather to roam around and enjoy the place! Yes, it is not fun to walk around in very humid weather. It’s good to know that this place is well maintained for the generations to come!

I had visited Taj Mahal in the heat of June. I was dripping with sweat and experience was awful. Heat in the central part of India can become unbearable and travelling there in summer should be avoided.

Orchha looks like an intriguing place! Those temples and forts are amazing, and I can imagine myself spending some time photographing everything there.

If you love history and are into the architecture, you can easily spend hours in Jahangir Mahal alone. It is a gem which hardly anyone knows about.

To be honest with you, before coming across to your post, I’ve never heard anything about Orchha before. But I’m glad that now I have, I always want to go to India. I only had a chance to stop by Delhi once for a really short layover and even then I didn’t manage to go out of hotel. It was such a bummer now that I think about it. I love road trip, and it sounds great that there’s train and bus option to get to Orchha. The city looks so beautiful, I’d definitely want to go if I get a chance to visit India someday. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Nitin Singhal says
Before a year, even I had not heard about Orchha. My friends and relatives got to know about Orchha through me. So, I am not surprised that you never heard about it. I hope you get to visit India someday and experience the beautiful places in India.

Wooow. India is has such amazing architecture. I really love the variety in the forts, palaces, cenotaphs and temples.
It is a bit of a shame some of these building look like they are falling into disrepair, but they are all truly gorgeous.
Nitin Singhal says
Yes, India is very beautiful. India is so vast that I don’t think anyone can visit the whole of India in its lifetime.
And yes it is a shame that some of the buildings are in terrible condition. Indians need to learn to respect their tradition and culture and strive hard to preserve it.

There is a lot of history in Orchha as it is a medieval town. If you want to go away from big cities with their big buildings and traffic, Orchha is the place to go. It is small, quiet and traditional.
Linda (LD Holland) says
I would definitely not be visiting Orchha in the summer. Those temps are just too hot for me. The Orchha Fort looks quite beautiful. Fascinating to read that there are 15 cenotaphs. Good to know that they are well maintained. I love reading about different traditions and was interested to read about the Laxmi idol being used to bless a marriage with prosperity and wealth. It would definitely be interesting to visit the only Hindu temple where Lord Rama is worshipped as a king. There are just so many things to see in Orchha. Definitely would want a few days to see it all.
Nitin Singhal says
Great decision to not visit Orchha in Summer. Summer is brutal in the central part of India.
