Universal Studios Singapore is one of the most popular family attractions in Singapore. Universal Studios theme park is packed with thrill rides, family rides, entertainment shows, and Meet & Greet sessions with your favourite movie characters.
If not planned well, you may end up disappointed by standing in the queues most of the day and riding only a handful of the rides. To make sure that it does not happen to you, follow these top tips for visiting Universal Studios Singapore.
Table of Contents
Avoid going on weekends and public holidays
Universal Studios Singapore is the most crowded on weekends and public holidays. More crowd means more time queuing for rides means less time for rides, Meet & Greet sessions, and lunch. Go on weekdays for a more relaxing day at Universal Studios Singapore.
Buy ticket online
Buy a Universal Studios Singapore ticket online through Klook or Pelago. Buying a ticket online is mostly cheaper than buying on the spot at Universal Studios Singapore. Also, you will avoid queuing at the ticket booth.
Travel Tip: A ticket bought online is non-cancellable and only valid for the booked date. Do not book the ticket online if you have an uncertain plan.
Download Universal Studios Singapore app
Make sure that you have downloaded Universal Studios Singapore app on your phone before the visit. The app will show you map of Universal Studios Park, current waiting time for each ride, schedule of Meet & Greet sessions, and dining and souvenir stores location.
Arrive early
Reach Universal Studios Singapore before opening time. This is the most important tip for visiting Universal Studios Singapore. The people usually start coming at around noon and the park gets very crowded during the afternoon. Arriving early will give you a headstart and you can experience more rides when the park is less crowded and thus less waiting time for each ride.
Universal Studios Singapore Ticket – Klook
We reached Universal Studios Singapore before opening time and we completed 70% of the rides within 1.5 hours. This gave us ample time to plan the rest of the day for the remaining rides, various shows, and Meet & Greet sessions.
Decide beforehand which ride to go on first
Even if you are arriving early, go for those rides first that you just can’t miss. Wait time for each ride can be as long as one hour during peak hours. You don’t want to be in a situation where you completed less popular rides first and didn’t keep enough time to ride the popular ones.
The most popular rides of Universal Studios Singapore are:
- Transformers
- Revenge of the Mummy
- Battlestar Galactica’s HUMAN vs. CYLON
- Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure
Buy an Express Pass only if you need to
Express Pass is a skip-the-line ticket for each ride. If you want to experience every ride, show, and Meet & Greet session, then only buy Express Pass.
There are two types of passes – Universal Express Day Pass and Universal Express Unlimited Day Pass. The Express Day Pass can be used only once on each ride and costs SGD 62 (~INR 3700) whereas Express Unlimited Pass can be used unlimited times on each ride and costs SGD 93 (~INR 5600).
Yes, Express Pass is not cheap and is similarly priced as Universal Studios Singapore entry.
But if you don’t mind leaving and waiting in queue for a couple of rides, then you are better off without Express Pass and still can tick most of the items in the list by following the earlier tips.
Do not skip the Meet & Greet
While going on maximum rides should be your biggest priority in Universal Studios Singapore, try to make time for a few Meet & Greet sessions also. It is fun to meet various movie characters (like Minions, Madagascar characters, Optimus Prime, Mummy, Blue the Velociraptor etc.) for a hug and handshake.
Meet and Greet sessions are scheduled throughout the day. So no need to be disappointed if you missed the chance of meeting your favourite character the first time.
Bring packed lunch
As is the case with any other popular attractions, food is expensive in Universal Studios Singapore. The good thing about Universal Studios is that you are allowed to bring outside food and beverages inside the park. Bring packed lunch to save both time and money.
We hope that these tips will help you plan a stress free day at Universal Studios Singapore.
