Ahmedabad is the biggest city of Gujarat and is an economic and industrial hub of India. It is India’s one of the two UNESCO World Heritage cities, Jaipur is the other one. It is not a very popular tourist destination which I think is a shame and deserves to be one. I have gone there and I loved it. Ahmedabad has a lot to offer for all age groups from amazing museums, a fun theme park, beautiful monuments and delicious Gujarati delicacies. Since not very popular, going there would mean no big crowds, no exuberant hotel prices and very affordable travel.
Best time to travel
October-March is the best time to travel to Ahmedabad. Temperature is much cooler but not chilly and perfect to roam around the city to experience all the sights. April-June is hot, while July-September is the rainy season and humid.

Food Cost in Ahmedabad
Food is very cheap in India and Ahmedabad is no exception. In fact like hotels, restaurants rates are also cheap as compared to Delhi & Mumbai. One can have a meal as cheap as Rs 100 from a small restaurant or dhabas. Most mid-range restaurants cost around Rs 250 – Rs 400. Eating in a restaurant with a variety of cuisines and great ambience does not cost more than Rs 700 and after that sky is the limit.

Night light in Ahmedabad is also very popular. There are many such popular lounges like Rewind the Disk where the exhaustion of the whole day can be eliminated in the evening. Spending time in slow light with live music in these lounges is a different experience. You can enjoy a favorite drink in these lounges with snacks or street food. Disco dance can also be done here.

What an incredibly detailed guide and your photos are amazing. I never realized there’s so much to see in Ahmedabad. I’ve visited Akshardham in Delhi but didn’t realize there’s one in Ahmedabad as well. The museum of textiles looks amazing – such vivid colors and intricate patterns, I think after a fun day of sightseeing in the city, a walk along that lovely riverfront would be the perfect way to wrap the day.
Jas says
Never knew Ahmedabad was a UNESCO World Heritage city until now. In fact, it’s the first time I’m hearing about it and I like how there’s such a wide variety of things to do. Would definitely love to do a guided tour at Calico Museum of Textiles!
